Melissa Jones

Dr. Melissa Jones (Lady Melissa) is a native of Baltimore, Maryland.  She is married to the love of her life, Dr. Damone B. Jones, Sr., Pastor of Bible Way Baptist Church in West Philadelphia.   Together, they are the proud parents of four beautiful children: Aleah, Melise, Damine, Jr., Alyssa Mariah, and Dominic Samuel.   

Dr. Jones began her counseling training at Christian Research and Development, where she was awarded a Certificate in Biblical Counseling in September of 1992.

Dr. Jones graduated from Geneva College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Ministry Management in June of 1996. She received her Master of Science Degree in Christian Counseling from Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) in May of 2005. She also received two Advanced Certifications from Philadelphia Biblical University: one in Marriage and Family Counseling (2006) and the other in Professional Counseling (2009). It has been noted that in 2009, Dr. Melissa was the first student to receive both Advanced Certifications in the history of the University’s program.

As an educator, Dr. Jones has taught Biblical Counseling I & II at Christian Research and Development. She has also served as a co-instructor for graduate students at Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) and as an adjunct professor at the Center for Urban Theological Studies (Lancaster Bible College).  

Dr. Melissa was awarded her professional counseling license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in December of 2012. One of her greatest accomplishments has been earning her Doctor of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy Studies from Eastern University in 2014. 

Dr. Jones has a strong aspiration to help others achieve emotional wellness. As a result, she opened her counseling practice, “Refresh Counseling Services, LLC,” in 2017.
